Radical Policies
Ever wondered why most of the nation’s leaders seem to avoid radical policies most of the time? Well, that’s because they cause instability by tipping too much the scale of the social tissue that forms a country. From now on, in Magna Mundi, if you choose (or are forced) too extreme a policy, you will be subject to 50 different events that try to portray different consequences for your radical choices. Of course, you may strike lucky and have a beneficial event happening, but most of the time, you’ll have to deal with unsavory situations… The policies covered are those pertaining to a social nature and not the ones regarding military choices.
Politiques Radicales
Colonization Events
While colonizing, you will now experience events that add some variety and depth to it. The events range from catastrophic to miraculous, but will stay somewhere in the middle most of the time. They add unpredictability and an additional challenge to any player.
These events are designed to work with the new colonization system.
Status Quo
An interesting concept that can be used in several ways to measure the power of all nations in the world and classifies each nation in one of four tiers: Minor State, Medium Power, Major Power and Great Power. Each one of this tier provides different bonus with bigger ones being assigned to larger powers. This can be used in the future as a frame for an event pool dealing with internal politics between the states.
We only pray the expansion gives us more control over diplomatic issues.
New Attrition Model
Prepare to deal with long term planning regarding your army strength, the season of the year you are campaigning, if playing a defensive or offensive war and much more. General maneuver ability is now much more significant as it helps you keep a larger force on the field, suffering less attrition casualties.
Watch as your armies in tropical climates are decimated victim of diseases and other unpleasant causes.
Stage defensive wars where attrition is your best ally or prepare to overcome attrition as you enemies’ best ally.
Chinese Containment
A major reworking on the provinces bordering the “Middle Kingdom” – from Tibet to Oirat Orde passing through Nepal and others -, new abilities given to the Mongol Kingdoms and a special treatment of Manchu ensures China advancement will be kept in check… most of the time. Shamanic nations can no longer be annexed in a single swath, which makes it harder for quicker expansion.
Dynamic Loans
Why will every country need the same amount of gold when asking for a loan? Now, you can choose if you want standard loans or a loan indexed to the yearly income of your country. Enjoy the new flexibility!
Balance of Power
A dynamic system checks when a nation owns provinces without being cores and generates different responses from the country’s neighbors. An increase in reputation, a casus belli or all out war are possibilities. Different factors such as religion or culture weights heavily into defining the neighbour’s behaviour. The relative power and internal environment of the neighbours are taken into consideration to keep the system balanced – rest assured you’ll not see Anhalt declaring war on Austria as a consequence of this.
Sengoku Revisited
With the changes introduced by vanilla patch 1.3, the balance of Sengoku module was put in jeopardy. We present a new version, where the specifics of the 1.3 patch were taken into account and playing in Japan is again a rewarding experience.
